Great Falls Downtown Visioning - 200 Block

LPW partnered with AE2S Engineering and Great Falls Development Authority to revision three half blocks in downtown Great Falls. The half blocks were selected based on the current underutilization of existing buildings along with opportunities for infill and new construction. During the process, the team hosted a visioning charrette with the public where they received numerous ideas of potential businesses and feedback on what was most important to the public. The main ideas derived from the charrette were; modern housing, fresh food market, food truck dining area, fine dining options, family and children friendly spaces, co-working space, and pop-up retail shops. The designer's goals for the project were to show development that provided unique uses to the downtown, design places for people that activate the street life and supports an 18-hour dynamic day, and design that serves as a catalyst for future downtown development.

This video shows the final design for the 200 block South on 1st Ave South. The design features pop-up shops for retail, specialty food concepts and a community play area on the East corner. The West corner features a specialty market with 4 floors of residential above.
